Macaroni Trophy

Three local Associations were recently involved in a food fight - The Builder’s Association of Central Pennsylvania, Centre County Association of REALTORS â, and The Young Lawyers of the Centre County Bar Association all competed to deliver the largest collection of non-perishable food or cash donations to the State College Area Food Bank.

The winning Association to be awarded the “Macaroni Trophy” will be accepted by President Steven Bodner of the Centre County Association of Relators â for their contribution of over 2150 pounds of food .

The Builder’s Association of Central Pennsylvania had the lowest contribution of 310 pounds of food and its President, Dan Wise will have to “Kiss the Pig” prior to the State College Spikes game on July 21, 2010.

Young people helping an old cause - See what these youngsters are doing to help others. We thank all of them who have thought about the needs of others and have worked to alleviate hunger in the Centre County region.

Cans for Community

For Maggie's 7th grade Family and Consumer Sciences Class, she decided to collect food for the Food Bank. She coordinated a neighborhood food drive. She and her brothers, Luke, and Jack, and friend Lauren delivered over 150 pounds of food items.

Birthday Wishes

How many kids do you know would trade birthday gifts for food donations? Erik did just that recently - he had everyone coming to his party bring donations for the Food Bank instead of the usual gifts - a total of 84 pounds!! Now that's a gift that keeps on giving!!

Day of Caring

This year's Day of Caring was a "moving" experience. Volunteers helped to move the Food Bank's freezers, including all their contents. In addition, the rugs got a good cleaning and bags of food were pre-packaged for client distribution. Thanks to all who helped.
