Did you know... that 70% of our food comes from local donations? We are fortunate to have wonderful local contributors to the State College Area Food Bank, including
Local Second Harvest Participants Target Our Food Bank Second Harvest programs channel overstocked or package-damaged products to organizations like our Food Bank. Our Second Harvest program, administered through the Pennsylvania Food Bank in Harrisburg, provides our Food Bank with key items like cereal at a very low cost. The local Olive Garden and Red Lobster restaurants donate soup, seafood and other items in a frozen form that we distribute to our clients. Many are extremely pleased to have a treat like coconut shrimp or crab legs for their household.
Our local Target also donates items to the Food Bank. Products like toilet tissue or an eight pack of soup that have damaged packaging are saved for the Food Bank. We pick up donations once a month and distribute them to our clients. Thank you Target, Olive Garden and Red Lobster for contributions to needy citizens in Centre County.
Teresa Reitz and Jamye Fasold collect the items that Target donates to the Food Bank.
