How to use the Food Bank

In order to use the State College Food Bank, you must reside in the State College Area School District (or live in Julian and have a 692 phone number) AND have a referral from one of the agencies listed below.

Step 1: Meet with one of agencies. If you qualify, they will provide you with a written referral.

Step 2: Bring the referral with you to the Food Bank during normal service hours.

Effective June 15, 2009, eligible clients will generally be approved for 8 visits in a 12 month period. You are able to determine when you use those 8 visits, based on your individual needs.

At times, a one-time referral can be provided for individuals with unusual situations. Emergency 24-hour assistance is available through the Community Help Centre: 814-237-5855.

In addition, when the food pantries are closed, the Community Help Center has an emergency bag of groceries available. This service is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Other Resources:

• Angel Food Ministries - The State College Food Bank has applications for the Angel Food Ministries progam with the Bethel Church of the Nazarene in State College. This program provides a wide variety of food items at a discount rate. Ask us for details when you stop in or visit their website.

• Free Lunch - Every Wednesday from 11 am - 1 pm. St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 109 McAllister St., State College. Come and enjoy FREE FOOD and a friendly atmosphere. All are Welcome.

• Our Daily Bread and Bagels Soup and bread supper every Thursday at 5:00 pm, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 208 W. Foster Ave., State College.

• Summer School Lunch Program - Sponsored by the State College Area School District and the Community Education Program. Available July - August at a variety of locations throughout the school district. For details, contact Connie Shultz at 814/231-1070 or 814/231-1011 during normal working hours.
